A huge thank you to everyone who visited the Academy yesterday to participate in our annual Open Day – parents, pupils and family members. More than four hundred primary school pupils made the journey to the Killymeal Road for this very special event. We thank you all for choosing to come along and participate in the many curricular and extra-curricular taster events which we had to offer. For many, it will have been the very first cautious step into the world of secondary level education. Many Primary 7 pupils will gladly choose to return to the Academy in September but whatever your choice, decision or circumstance we wish you every success in finding what is right and where is best for you. We thank all the Key Stage 3 pupils and senior prefects who facilitated the Open Day in so many ways and especially Mrs Stella McCarthy who guided the entire project. Most of all, however, we thank all the P7 pupils for participating so cheerfully, readily and enthusiastically in the workshops and for making the most of this special opportunity. As our Principal, Mr Fintan Donnelly, remarked in yesterday’s opening address, the Academy’s primary aim is to maximise the opportunities so that we can maximise the success. We wish you all well this coming Saturday and look forward to welcoming our new Year 8 recruits to our induction day in June. Time to jump at the opportunity.
