Irish Language Awards Ceremony

Many congratulations to everyone who took part in our recent celebration of achievement in spoken Irish.  Special thanks to our guests on the day, Mr Damian O’Neill and Mr Seamus Kilpatrick.
It was another great cultural moment in the life of the Academy with 156 students being awarded the Silver Fáinne and another 23 the Gold Fáinne.  A further 23 students also received certificates of merit
in spoken Irish.  Thanks to our dancers and musicians and to all the staff in the Irish department for all their efforts.

Top Year 14 student in Gold Fáinne exam – Ciara O’Hagan being presented with her trophy Gradam na Máthar Beinin from guest speaker Damian O’Neill.  Damian is a past pupil of St. Patrick’s Academy and currently works as Irish Language Development Officer in Coalisland. Also in the picture is Mr F. Donnelly, School Principal.

Adam Toner 10D receives Gradam Thomáis Uí Chléirigh from Mr Fintan Donnelly for the top Year 10 boy.

Special recognition was given to EAL (English as additional language) students Melissa Guedes, Nicole Silva, Sandra John, Deimantas Cernovas, Milana Intaite, Alina Jakstaite and Natalia Pawlowska who received silver fáinní.
