The ‘Best New Irish Band’ will play at An Evening of Celebration – these brothers are seriously cool!
The Irish American News crowned them “Best New Irish Band” in 2016 so you can imagine how delighted we are to have Cúig perform at An Evening of Celebration. These guys are lighting up stages in Europe and in the US and we know they’ll be on fire in the Armagh City Hotel on February 3.
Press Release: by Eleanor McGillie of MGMPR Ltd
Ruairí and Rónán Stewart are brothers from Dungannon, and are members of the Irish traditional band, Cúig. Ruairí plays guitar and Rónán plays the fiddle and the Uilleann pipes.
Cúig have established themselves as one of the most exciting up and coming bands in Irish Music and have been crowned “Best New Irish Band” by the Irish American News.
Their unique combination of fiery Irish tunes infused with a strong rock-based accompaniment has set them apart from any other act of the traditional Irish music scene.
As members of Cúig, Ruairí and Rónán have toured their debut album ‘New Landscapes’ extensively in Europe and the US.
The sound is fresh, unique and vibrant – a sound which takes most bands years to establish. Once you listen to these guys you will want them on your daily playlist. The talent is literally hanging out of them.
Cúig, hailing from Armagh and Tyrone, have established themselves as one of the most promising up and coming artists in Irish Music.
Their original sound and their powerful live shows have left audiences on their feet in France, Italy and Holland. They starred in the renowned ‘Irish Heartbeat tour’ in Germany. This three week tour has created great demand and acclaim for Cúig. Not only have they achieved success as a band, individually these multi talented musicians can lay claim to several All Ireland titles.
Cúig’s debut album, ‘New Landscapes’ was recently released on the 1st of April, 2016 to critical acclaim.
If you haven’t already we would suggest you get onto YouTube and have a listen.
