History Society
The History society aims to promote
all pupils enthusiasm and skills as young historians. Pupils from
Year 8 to A-Level are all involved in ICT research and presentational
work for topics of common interest. From the beginning of the academic
year in 2006, topics have included the role of the "Forgotten
Irish" in WW1, the history of Christmas, the Holocaust and our
"Blast from the Past" presentation. The History society
also provides music in the canteen and interviews both pupils and
staff for helpful input. We link all contemporary issues in our world
today with the past and highlight the lessons we all must learn for
living in a peaceful and fruitful twenty-first Century.
Remember . . . THE PAST SHAPES THE WORLD WE LIVE IN SO WE ALL SHOULD
TAKE AN INTEREST!!!

Mock Trial Group
The Bar National Mock Trial Competition
gives young people an exciting and innovative insight into the workings
of the legal system and the Crown Courts. A team of fifteen Year 13
and Year 14 students use carefully constructed witness statements
to prepare the prosecution and defence of two specially written criminal
cases. Students take on the roles of lawyers, witnesses, court staff
and jurors and compete against other schools in a live format, with
one team prosecuting and the other defending. Their performances are
judged by Circuit Judges and senior barristers and take place in Crown
Courts. In addition to the main Mock Trial Competition, there is a
Legal Reporting Competition which provides students with a unique
opportunity to see inside the world of Public Relations and Court
Reporting.
